This album contains 12 of the 15 Burt Carols, a collection of songs written by Alfred Burt as yearly Christmas cards to friends and family.

It is the original recording or the carols, shortly after Burt died of lung cancer.

This album was re-released the following year, adding two of the three missing carols; “Carol of the Mother” and “What Are the Signs”.

The Burt Carols start gaining popularity when they were recorded by Tennessee Ernie For in 1958 (The Star Carol) and Nat King Cole in 1960 (Caroling, Caroling).
